The announcement
Provost Peter Kilpatrick described Dr. Sun as "one of the national leaders in high-performance computing" who "has done seminal work on the scalability of parallel processor computers."
The announcement notes that, as director of Illinois Tech's Scalable Computing Software Laboratory, Dr. Sun co-developed Sun-Ni's law, one of the three scalable computing laws alongside Amdahl's law and Gustafson's law, and helped develop C-AMAT, a model that addresses the memory-wall problem.
