SPOTTER-AI

Provenance and threat attribution for Genesis workflows with Argonne
Lifecycle
Active
Period
2026–Present

SPOTTER-AI captures provenance across scientific workflows on the Genesis Mission platform and uses it to trace and attribute threats to their data and results. Argonne National Laboratory leads the project, with Bogdan Nicolae as principal investigator, and the partners include Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Illinois Tech. It was selected in the first round of DOE Genesis Mission projects announced in July 2026 (project record (opens in a new tab)), and GRC's work on it began in August 2026.

GRC's Contribution

GRC contributes CLIO from IOWarp: CLIO Core, CLIO Kit, CLIO Agent, and CLIO Coder. At GRC the work is led by Anthony Kougkas with Jaime Cernuda and Dr. Xian-He Sun.

Status

SPOTTER-AI is in its first phase. DOE's Genesis Mission selection list (opens in a new tab), posted July 22, 2026, lists it as selected for award negotiations, so this page reports participation and scope and makes no claim about results yet.
