Dr. Sun and ICPP
ICPP is one of the longest-running conferences in parallel computing. Its 50th meeting took place in 2021, with Dr. Sun as a general chair (opens in a new tab). His ICPP record includes the Best Paper Award at ICPP 2001 in Valencia, Spain, with Kasidit Chanchio.
His research spans the memory-bounded speedup model known as Sun-Ni's Law (1990), the C-AMAT model of concurrent memory access published in IEEE Computer in 2014, and parallel I/O systems for hierarchical storage, the line of work the Gnosis Research Center continues.
