DOE Funds Coeus Project for Accelerating Scientific Insights

The DOE Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research has selected Coeus in its 2022 data management awards (opens in a new tab). Coeus is a collaborative project of Illinois Tech (Dr. Xian-He Sun), Sandia National Laboratories (Dr. Jay Lofstead), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Dr. Scott Klasky).
The project
Coeus embeds computation in the I/O path. Through an ADIOS2 plugin, it computes derived quantities while a simulation produces its data, places the results across the storage hierarchy, and lets scientists query the enriched metadata instead of post-processing the raw output.
